Spessartine Garnets are one of the more sought after varieties of garnet. These Raw Spessartine Garnets are exactly as they were found; They have not been treated or polished in any way. These beautiful crystals are often found alone, instead of on a matrix. Over the centuries, the termination surfaces of these Spessartine Garnets have been lightly etched by aqueous solutions of various minerals. These light etchings create the intricate patterns of concentric lines and geometries that make Spessartine Garnets some of the most beautiful mineral specimens. In addition to these Raw Spessartine Garnets, we also offer the fully etched variety, the much more rare Etched Spessartine Garnets, available from our Etsy shop! Our Raw Spessartine Garnets were sustainably mined in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Sustainable mining means that the mines are re-filled with earth when they’ve been fully harvested, so as not to disrupt the surrounding ecosystem.
