Amazonite is a lovely blue to blue-green colored mineral, a close relative of Orthoclase, Feldspar, and is often referred to as the “Stone of The Amazon”. In the South America Amazonite was often used to make jewelry by the Aztecs and Mayans. Its name comes from the Amazon River, where important Amazonite deposits are found. Almandine Garnet is the classic variety of red to red-brown colored garnet. Our Palmstones are cut from Amazonite stone with Garnet Inclusions mixed throughout, contrasting Amazonite's greenish-blue with Garnet's reddish-brown in a beautiful mix of colors. Our Amazonite and Garnet Palmstones were sustainably mined, cut and polished in Brazil. Sustainable mining means that the mines are re-filled with earth when they’ve been fully harvested, so as not to disrupt the surrounding ecosystem.
