It is found at the meteoric impact site in the Eastern Sahara Desert, similar to the areas where Moldavite is found. Because of its locality, Libyan Gold Tektite is believed to be an impactite, a crystal formed from the vaporized elements released in the super heated environment, after the meteor impact in the Sahara Desert.
